how far should i put axle seal in???

Mostly cause I'm retardedly OCD.

There's no doubt in my mind that the seal seated, but there's no way it went to the correct depth (it would not go in deep enough). OP is doing the passenger side, which I'm intimately familiar with. By using the axle to push in the seal, you will actually be compressing the lip that surrounds the axle when pressing in the seal. It's rubber, so its malable, but the potential for ripping or damaging that part (which incidentally is the part that always ends up tearing and leaking) is high. Also, the problem with the seal not inserted all the way is that lip can rub on the inboard part of the axle (instead of just the axle shaft) and can wear prematurly.

I'm not saying your method doesn't work, cause clearly it has for miles. For my truck however, and what I recommend to other members, I'll stick to my pvc pipe method.
