No, the dimensions stated are correct. What I am worried about is the fact that the walls (both inner and outer) of the old seal are 3mm and the thickness of the walls of the 'new' ones are 2mm. You can see this in the photos. I am wondering if it is thicker for a reason?

Yes, I have vernier callipers and have checked the dimensions. No room to double the seal up as it is held between the gear casing and a roller bearing.

Some references have suggesting replacing the oil with grease. This sounds to be a good idea because the shaft (to the cork screw) won't be turning very fast.

Sorry to appear to be so fussy, but I know nothing about seals and the replacement I've been supplied with does look a lot weaker.
